Choosing A Song List

I hope your wedding planning is going well! Of course, we feel the music side of the night is one of the most important aspects of having a memorable wedding. The last thing you want is to have your friends and family sitting around at their tables listening to a boring DJ. A frequently asked question we get is about how we choose songs and how involved the bride and groom can be with choosing songs. We definitely want as much feedback from you as a couple as possible!

You can check out our general song list here: https://www.weddingsoulution.com/song-list

We ask that you print out the list and highlight songs you love and cross out songs you really don’t want to hear. We’ll call from those songs first.

We don’t play from a predetermined playlist, however. We’ve done 100s of weddings and know how to feel the crowd out. After dinner is wrapping up, we generally start with the classics. My Girl, Stand By Me - some Al Green, Stevie Wonder, etc. As the night goes on, we start sprinkling in some more dance hits and pop music. The whole while, we’re judging the crowd and what they are responding to. If everyone is up dancing to Motown at the beginning of the night, we’ll stick to that style. The goal is always to keep people up and dancing to make your wedding memorable for you, your family, and your friends!

If you have specific songs you’d like to have us play for your first dances, we’d love to learn them! Also feel free to contact us with any questions you may have at booking@soulutionband.com.
